October Scrap Club - This month we used a vintage or heritage theme. I was inspired by these tags that I made at a class with Tim Holtz last month, and used several of the techniques, plus the tag shape when designing this months sketch:

We also made Gluber flowers using ribbon and a giant Cosmo Cricket sticky circle called a Gluber!
Here is my first sample page:

Jenny used the same sketch and techniques but took the distressing to the "extreme" level!
Here is her brilliant sample layout she created for us:

We used lots of distress inks. These lovely ladies at the Saturday afternoon session get the prize for the messiest table!

The optional challenge this month is to use the tag design and sketch and create another layout, but perhaps use patterned papers and make the design more contemporary - it's up to you!
Here is a page that I made with patterned papers from the Fancy Pants "Baby Be Mine" collection:

And I thought it only appropriate to create a page celebrating the inspiration for this months scrap club!

"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
Here are a couple of optional Scrap Club layouts inspired by Septembers's sketch:
The first one is lovely and bright, and made by Sue Pike.
I love the small photos of the planes in the sky and the central photo where the figures have been cut out, and then backed onto scrapbook paper (American Crafts clouds!) - very clever.
Sue has rotated the sketch and used the squares for the additional photos.

This second layout by Carolyn uses up some of the papers left from her scrap club kit, mixed with others from her stash. The title letters and deer embellishment have been made using Tim Holtz alterations dies.

Carolyn has again rotated the sketch. Can you spot the candi Carolyn has coloured with distress inks and added as subtle embellishment?

September Scrap Club
We have used lots of patterned papers and embellishments from the Basic Grey Marjolaine & Granola collections this month.
Here are my two sample layouts:

We used a combination of Basic Grey Chip stickers, and our own stamped and die cut embellishments. The flowers are made with the Tim Holtz rosette die that we ran through the Vagabond machine.

Jenny has used photos from our trade fair trip earlier this year to highlight her favourite part!

We challenged ourselves to hand write on our layouts:

Rachel has also made me a sample page this month to show how the design can be extended and altered.
I love the way Rachel has incorporated extra photos. Rachel has used patterned papers from the Basic Grey Out of Print collection.

*****************************************************
September Optional Challenge - create a layout on any theme based on the sketch that we used at this months' scrapclub. Feel free to turn the sketch, and use any embellishments you want.
Jan Benskin has been very quick off the mark, and here is her optional challenge layout, with the sketch turned onto the side:

********************************************************
Lots of stunning layouts were created using August's optional challenge sketch. Here are a talented group of scrapbookers at our September Friday morning session showing their layouts:

(Sue Sheltrum, Linda Brewis, Jane Towse, Sallie Henson & Jan Benskin)
Here is Jan's layout in close up. Jan has used Echo Park patterned papers and stickers. Love that bunting::

Christine Wheeler-Cherry has made this stunning layout:

A beautiful layout by Janice Kempster. Love the embossed circle and the unusual mirror circles used as an embellishment border:

...and finally a gorgeous and beautifully balanced layout by Vicki Ball:

*****************************************************
August Scrap Club
In August we took "A Special Occasion" as our theme. We masked, misted, stamped, mica powdered, & punched to create a unique background using only white card.
Here is Jenny's beautiful sample page:

...and here are two of mine:

We added a sheet of 12x12 Bazzil Bling for matting and titles, but otherwise all the colour came from the mists and perfect pearl powders.

Unfortunately the camera hasn't picked up the special corner detail we included, or the shimmer. We all enjoyed trying the different techniques and creating an inky mess this month!
************************************************
Optional July Challenge!
Have a go at scraplifting this layout. A scraplift is where you use the page as your inspiration, and for the placement of all the different elements, but use your own theme, embellishments, photos and colour scheme!

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::The Some More Great Scraplifts using the Sketch!
Carol Hiett has done a fantastic job interpreting the sketch with this marvelous photo of her grandson, Leo. The spiders web embellishment was a left over from a Grandma 'n child workshop Carol attended with four of her grandchildren!
Linda Brewis has turned the sketch on it's side to produce this atmospheric layout. The ribbon roses were from taken of a hair slide that only cost 50p. Papers are from an old collection by K & Co called "Wild Saffron", and work really well with this black and white photo.
And the little girl sitting in the pushchair is of course Linda!

Jane Towse has used one of her favourite collections by My Minds Eye "Stella Rose" to produce this lovely page featuring her son. Jane has cleverly used a mix of 12x12 paper for the background, plus papers from the same collection from a 6x6 pack (the stripy paper and dotty paper).

This fun and colourful page featuring Hugo was made by Diane Williams using papers from Echo Park. All the paw print accents are perfect for the theme of the layout and highlight the pattern on Hugo's blanket!

Two More Scraplifts
Two more great layouts.
Jan Benskin has used Echo Park patterned papers for her layout. Jan has made her own embellishments by stamping with our new Molly Blooms Designs stamps to make the tree house and stool.
.
The little cloud pulls out to reveal Jan's hidden journaling (and yes, the cute little girl is Jan!)
This next layout by Sallie Henson shows how adaptable a sketch can be and features her son as a young school boy. Papers are by Kaisercraft and just perfect for this photo.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
The First Scraplifts to share!
Love all three of these layouts - everyone has interpreted the layout so brilliantly - and they are all so different!

"Precious" by Jeanette Thompson - beautiful colours and clever use of 3mm nail heads. Patterned paper by Kaiser Craft.

"Happy Birthday" by Christine Wheeler-Cherry - Pretty papers by Creative Imaginations, and love all the sparkle and diamonds.

"Mmmm delicious" by Sue Pike - striking colours and love the two different fonts used for the title cut on the cricut, plus the glossy accents on the Mmmm!

July Scrap Club
This month we have travelled the world to exotic locations as well as places closer to home. It has been great sharing holiday memories and photos with everyone. Here is my first sample layout:

Techniques this month included stamping, paper piecing and making a mini book:

Here is my second sample layout:

Rachel did a brilliant job of converting my scribbled design into the computer generated sketch, and also did a sample layout for us. I loved the way she made her suitcase open for extra journaling space!
As usual Jenny did a great job and created a further double layout as extra inspiration for us:

***************************************************
Optional Challenge for June: Scraplift the design from this month's scrap club, and make a second layout, but this time on any theme. Use patterned papers, whatever embellishments you already have, plus try to include stamping somewhere on the page!
Another Idea for Dragonfly Peel offs!
Ann Baker has cleverly used the left over dragonflies from the June card challenge to decorate her June Scrapcub challenge layout! What a good idea Ann.

A FUN page from Liz Wiseman!
I love the originality of this layout. This is Liz's optional June challenge. Liz has turned my sketch on it's side. Enjoy!

Liz has used the Walk in the Garden Cricut cartridge to make the flowers. Here is a close-up of some of the details:

************************************************
I have seen lots and lots of scrapbookers creating great layouts for the challenge again this month. I managed to photograph this layout made by Jan Benskin and wanted to share it with you as I thought it was just charming:

I like the way Jan has created wavy photos and mats to echo the theme of the design.
Jan has used her Hobby Art Harbour clear stamp set on the layout, and coloured the images with Promarkers. Here is a close up:

************************************************
In June we have made bright, modern layouts with "Children" as our theme. Here are my sample pages:

We made circular journaling tags:

I stamped a background border on this page:

and on my journaling circle tag:

And here is Jenny's fun sample page:

The childhood embellishments were all cut on the cricut using A Child's Year cartridge. We all had fun making holes using a variety of tools, and then decorating the page with eyelets, brads, candi, buttons or backing the holes them with coloured card.

I have finished one of my demonstration layouts! I have added some stamping this time for added detail rather than lots of brads etc. Only another two to finish!

*****************************************************
Here are the first scraplift layouts we have seen at the craft centre. Brilliant pages and all so different!
Louise Curtis has used patterned paper from Crate Paper to make this fun page. This was the first scraplift completed so well done to Louise!

This scraplift by Sandra De Cruz is just too cute for words! Love it!

Mary Ridgeway has made this colourful scraplift. Love her colourful cogs cut using a Tim Holtz die. They are the perfect embellishment for the photo of her grandson playing with lego:

Linda Page has made this lovely page using a Piece of Prima patterned paper, and has cleverly cut it into different bits to make various sections of the layout:
This was the first layout I saw where the scraplift design has been turned 90 degrees so that two landscape photos can be used. Jan Benskin has used her card making supplies from Craftwork Cards to make this great layout - a good example of getting the most from your stash!

Debbie Simpson has also turned the design on it's side to make this "Cute" baby page in soft and gentle colours. Debbie has cut out hearts from the patterned paper to make her lovely embellishments.
(The double sided paper is available in the shop and great value at only 45p per sheet!)

Another scraplift using two landscape photographs in bright colours by Christine Wheeler-Cherry. Chritine has cut the rosettes on the Cricut (Plantain Schoolbook cartridge) which make perfect embellishments for the theme of her page.

Thanks everyone for all the inspiration, and for taking part!
I am sure there will be lots more scraplifts to share at June Scrap Club!
***********************************************
May Scrap Club Challenge:
A Scraplift!
Create a layout using the design of this page as your inspiration. Use your own photos, theme, papers and embellishments but use the page as a guide for placement:

I made this page last year using a the Basic Grey Kioshi page kit, but added a few extra details of my own.
Remember to bring your scrap lift layout to next months scrap club to share.
**************************************************
In May we created our layout using a "Shabby Chic" style. Huge thanks to Rachel who converted my pencil sketch design for the month into a great printed format!
With the sketch as a guide, a page kit full of goodies - and heaps of inspiration from four sample layouts everyone produced fantastic pages.
Here is my first sample layout - me aged 10 months with my grandma!

As I had patterned papers left from my kit I made a second layout using the smaller original photo to show how the layout works with any sized photograph. I have changed the placement of some of the embellishments:

We made crumpled shabby chic flowers for our layouts using scalloped circle punches - very easy to make but very effective.
Each kit contained a Fancy Pants crochet flower which I have put in the centre of one of my flowers:

The Tim Holtz swirls, birdcage and bird were also in the kit - ready to colour with distress inks:

Each kit also contained two pieces of lace, which we layered on top of stamped lace using a set of clear stamps by Artemio:

We also made a tag for our journaling. I have stamped more lace on mine to decorate:

Jenny has created a stunning masterpiece for us this month using the sketch and the page kit - thanks Jenny.

Here is a close up of her bird cage which Jenny has curved and coated in crackle accents:

Here is a close up of her tag:

Here is another close up of some of the details. We also included a Prima pebble, a selection of gems and buttons in each kit:

Since Rachel was home from Uni she also made a sample layout for me - and what can I say - just WOW!

Here are some close up details showing her tag, flowers and stamped and layered lace:

86 scrapbookers came to scrap club this month and created this layout - which also co-incided with National Scrapbooking Day on Saturday - thank you.
Here are just a couple of finished layouts from the sessions for even more inspiration!
I just loved Natalie Rowland's take on the page - she has managed to give Shabby Chic a modern twist by the clever use of her colours- and has added a few silver embellishments from a necklace from Primark! Just Brilliant!

I also love Brenda Weschae's page - the photo was taken with her mum in the USA shortly before Brenda left to live in Europe. Her combination of a modern photo and shabby chic style has worked brilliantly too!

Karen Spreckly created this beautiful layout:

Some great distressed edges!

I also loved Jan Benskin's layout as she managed to create a gently faded shabby chic style by using her mum's favourite colour blue:

We all got to share some great vintage black and white photos - and this one made us all smile in this layout by Jeanette Thompson:
Julie Staves (card maker) joined us on Saturday to make her first scrap book page - here it is and well done!

I love the way that Carolyn has pleated her lace across the bottom of her page, and the way that her title "1962" blends into the text frame background:

============================================
More Layouts and Inspiration to Share!
I have seen some great multi photo layouts for this months challenge. Here are a few.
The colours of Carolyn's multi photo layout are so beautiful:

Here the flap is open and you can see the additional photos Carolyn has been able to include:

Lucy has made a great multi photo layout with two accordian folding photo mats for heaps of added photos!

Love the bright colours, the card candi and the ticket used for her title!

Caroline Males has made a very striking layout to celebrate the royal wedding:

...and has included lots of extra photos on the inside:

Ann Baker has used the same patterned paper but made a layout celebrating a VE day party!

"Norway" is by Lesley Cook:

Now have a look at how Lesley has extended the space for more photos:

Lesley has cleverly mixed patterned paper from Basic Grey, My Minds Eye, and K&Co for this layout. I love the hand made embellishment made by lesley - with the twine, and crackle paint glaze - really clever:

This next multi photo layout has been created by Jan Benskin. Jan has been busy taking photos of all the sheep and cute lambs in the fields around the craft centre!

Jan has created a fold down concertina mat so even more photos can be included (and even more are on the reverse side!

Liz Wiseman has finished her layout from April's scrap club. Beautiful colours and photos:

The palm EK Success deep punch border punch is so striking. By creating a simple flap Liz has included extra photos:

Jeanette Thompson has also created a multi photo layout - the entire bottom half of the layout lifts up so she has been able to include lots of extra photos (and has even more to add!):

I also wanted to share a few other lovely layouts I have seen.
The first ones use buttons and are from last months challenge. Linda page created this amazing page with a button collage!

Carolyn used the idea from stash busters and added a beautiful button heart embellishment. The pretty patterned papers are from My Minds Eye Stella Rose:

..and here is another layout that uses the stash busters idea - but incorporates buttons too!

Tessa Miller has used buttons to frame this cute photo of her grandaughter:

Emma cleverly used button patterned paper by Echo Park - and added buttons on top for her layout!

....and here are several more layouts using the paintability 12x12 sheets from scrap club:

April
Wow - This month we have had 94 people come to Scrap Club - thank you!
This month we made spiral flowers to decorate our "Spring" themed layout, and we also added stamped and glittered highlights to our page.
Here is my first sample layout:

Here is a close up of the techniques we used this month:

I wanted to include extra photos so made a flap. Here it is open showing the additional photos I was able to add:

Here is our second sample page "Birthday Bouquets".
Jenny used two smaller photographs rather than one large photo as shown on the sketch.

The sparkly swirls were made with a foam stamp that Jenny made herself - she cut three swirls from funky foam using her Tim Holtz Alterations die and Vagabond machine, then glued them together and stuck them to a piece of plastic!

The butterfly is the clear stamp freebie from last months Craft Stamper magazine!
Jenny used deckle edged scissors and added glitter to her flowers - so pretty:

This is our third sample page. I have used the reverse of papers from Echo Park's A Colourful Christmas as they worked well with the theme of my page - red nose day!

I also wanted to share this lovely layout made by Marion Mason at our Wednesday evening session. Marion has turned the sketch on it's side which suited her photographs better.
I loved the way she stamped her title with black ink, and then overstamped using the glue pad before adding glitter.

And her flowers were amazing - so perfectly even!

The Challenges!
We have had heaps of inspiration this month with so many great layouts made and shared. I have taken so many photos that I have forgotten who made some of them! Please email me if you see your layout but not your name - and then I can rectify my omission - thanks.
Prima Paintabilty Page Challenge!
Everyone went home last month with a complimentary 12x12 paintability or acetate sheet. Lots have been returned showing great creativity:
Carolyn has produced a beautiful layout with hers. The roses have been coloured with distress inks:

The large rose embellishment is a Woodware clear stamp that Carolyn has stamped, and again coloured with distress inks.

Helen Stradling from Aylesbury has made this lovely Disney layout. Lots of careful cutting out with those swirls.
Can you spot the tiny Tinkerbell?

I also love this beatiful page by Heather from Milton Keynes - so very, very pretty:

Jan Benskin has made a colourful page by adding Echo Park Spring time stickers, and a clever idea to stamp a window using her Tatty Button window and use it to frame her photograph:

Jeanette Thompson has coloured her sheet with Promarkers and used it to frame a large photo to create this charming layout:

Natalie has created a stylish contempory wedding page with her sheet:

and this lovely wedding page has been coloured with distress inks to give a more vintage feel:
Tracy Gladdy has given her page a totally different feel again - very futuristic with those photos!

All the flourishes on this pretty page were cut out out from the original sheet and layered onto a cardstock base!

This time the flourishes have been coloured with gold paint to make them shine. Phil Elwells layout feature her sons - and who says you can't have flowers on a masculine page!

One of the sheets had an overall design and it has been facinating to see all the different ways it has been used:
Lauretta Milligan has cut around the pattern and only used part of the sheet for her beautiful wedding page:

Only some of the pattern has been coloured on this lovely page by Ann Baker. Ann has added glossy accents on parts of the roses to highlight them:

Trudy has used a strip of her sheet, plus one rose as an embellishment, and cleverly used the rest to cut letters for her title. The title is dutch and translates as "White Light"

Caroline Males has coloured hers with Promarkers, and cut it into a circle which gives a modern feel as well:

...and this pretty layout has been subtly chalked (I think) and used to create the back drop for the layout:

Next we have a stunning photo on this page by Vickie Ball. I love the composition of this layout - and the journaling!

Some Scrappers were given acetate sheets. Here are a few of the clever ideas you came up with:
Carol Hiett used the backing in her pack to make the base for her layout. The acetate has been coloured with Promarkers, and she has made a very clver window for her photo. I also like the way she has used Candi as blossom on the tree:

Liz Wiseman coloured behind her acetate and has used it to frame a charming painting done by her grandaughter - brilliant!

Pat used used the same sheet but her layout has a very different feel. The flocked and glittered chandelier has been added on top of the acetate!

Wendy Ware has stitched on her acetate, and I like the way that the large photo is on top of the acetate, but the small photos are underneath:

Di Dale has used rub ons for her title and created this evocative page using the same 12x12 acetate Destination sheet.

We still have some acetate and paintable 12x12 sheets available in the shop if you would like to challenge yourself again. They are normally £1 each, but on special offer to scrap club members at 50p each while stocks last.
Button Challenge!
The second challenge last month, posted here on the web site, was to create a layout and use up some of your button stash! We have had loads of lovely layouts bought to scrap club - thank you!
This first one by Mary Ridgeway is gorgeous:

I love, love, love this page! A great design, beautiful colours, gems, and all those buttons have been hand stitched to the background!
...and I love this next layout by Ann Baker too! Very clever twisted ribbon detail - and gorgeous flower embellishments as well as buttons!

The next button challenge page to share has been made by Caroline Males. The treasure chest opens to reveal a photo of her son Finley - fun!

This next page has been made by Carol Hiett. I like the way she has mixed Candi with her buttons, and the lovely shape plus some subtle stitching:

Pat has made this super fun and colourful circus tent layout with lots of buttons!
...next a layout full of life and movement by Teresa:

I also love the colours and simplicity of this page by Heather from Milton Keynes (and the great photo!)

The colours of this baby layout are lovely - and can anyone recognise the cute baby? - - - Jan Benskin!

Jeanette Thompson has created this unusual wedding layout using some lovely embossed paper and lots of buttons!

Natalie has created a well balanced double layout (always a bit trickier to photograph unfortunately), and used patterned papers from an old Basic Grey Christmas collection to show that Christmas papers can be used all year round!

Sue Ward agonised over all the little details on this page over several cropping sessions - but has produced a master piece!

Viv Westcott has made her own buttons from Fimo for this great page:

what dedication to the challenge!

and this bright and colourful page uses buttons as a fun border to highlight the photo:

Vickie Ball has used card buttons on her page. The journaling will be going on the left hand side - could be interesting!

....and finally Di Dale tried a clean and simple style, rather than her more usual grungy and distressed look - and came up with this layout that included a subtle cluster of buttons:

Unfortunately my camera managed to lose quite a few of the photographs I took over the seven sessions, but hopefully these layouts have captured some of the creative energy that Scrap Club members have demonstrated this month!
And given all of us a few more ideas......
Look forward to seeing your multi photo layouts in May!
""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""""
March
This month we used one sketch but several themes were suitable such as Baby, Love and Romance. We included hidden journaling plus three buttons on our pages.
The technique for the month was to use mica powders (Perfect Pearls/Cosmic Shimmer) in a variety of ways on our layouts.
Here are my two sample layouts:

Here is a close-up of my hearts:

This is my other sample layout using patterned paper for the background:

Jenny's sample layout feature her two grown up "babies"! Jenny used a stencil and a clear versamark pen to write the "you both" part of her title, which was then dusted with mica powders. A great idea!

Fabulous February Inspiration!
Here are a selection of completed February layouts, optional layouts and masculine cards - all made by our talented Scrap Club members. 87 scrappers came this month - a huge thank you to you all for attending, and for everyone being so willing to share their creations!
First are Kim's two layouts - love the colours and all the little details:

Kim has used the remainder of her kit for the optional challenge. Kim has turned the sketch sideways and galvanised metal card meets the metal challenge (available in the shop 60p for a 12x12 sheet in a range of colours). I love the tassles to match the sporan!

Carolyn has used papers from the same collection to make this great page about her hubby's birthday trip!

Here is Carolyn's optional challenge page using the sketch on it's side - a really pretty page using Basic Grey Kioshi papers, and a Martha Stewart border punch.

Next we have an optional challenge page by Jan...lovely colours and clever use of those bargain acrylic letters we had on offer!

Here is Jans masculine card. Jan has used the design from Card club, turned it on it's side, plus left over papers from her first page plus used the brand new Bicycle clear stamp from Wild Rose Studio:

This great layout by Tessa Miller is really striking:

Tessa has created the little round metal embellishments by using the metal from a tomato pureé tin, punching out shapes, and then embossing it!
Here is a close up!

Here is her card which uses the same brilliant technique:

Emma Belcher has made this lovely layout - The Basic Grey "Oliver" papers go really well with the watery theme and colours in the photo!

...and next we have Emma's optional challenge layout "Pooh Sticks" (Wish I had taken photos like this when my girls were small, but I wasn't a scrapper then!)

Next to share is this great layout by Heather Moore. The colours are perfect for the photo, and I love the way she has cut the sentiment from part of her patterned paper (Fancy Pants) to put across the bottom of her page.

Heather also made this clever masculine card for her husbands birthday! Each of the images reflect different interests he has....

Juliet has made an optional layout. I like the way she has used her Fairy stamp to embellish the page!

Lauretta Milligan has made this heritage layout using the February sketch. She has made a fantastic felt poppy as an embellishment and included the all important journaling that tells the story........

Next a masculine card by Karen Brittin. Karin has used last months card club design, and left over papers from Scrap Club to make this brilliant card!

Trudy used the sketch side ways to make this fun Pirates optional layout. Love the metal lock and key and that black flower!

Here is a close up of the well placed and unexpected black flower:

Loiuse Race has cleverly used twine to frame her photograph, and made a matching envelope for her journaling:

I loved this layout as soon as Tracy Gladdy had made it - colourful, with well placed journalng strips, and a great faux metal embellishment. Tracy made the cricket balls by punching circles from card and using a white gel pen for the stitching detail:

...and here is Tracy's fun optional challenge page. The metal on her layout are the braces!

Here is a close up of the braces. Tracy used a clip art image to make the paper pieced mouth!

Finally we have Tina Williams's amazing creation. When Carolyn and I saw this page our jaws dropped and we were speechless! What a dimensional work of art this is......
My photos do not do this page justice - however I have asked Tina if I can borrow it to put on display at the craft centre.

Tina has made a small book for her journaling. It can be removed from the page and opens up. It is tied to the page with thin leather.

Here is a close up of her Grungboard letter and faux metal background:

Thanks to everyone for allowing me to share your work.
Extra February Inspiration:
I love this layout "Rough Diamond" by Trudy featuring her husband. The title, papers and photo are matched so well!

The faux metal diamonds are wrapped with twine - such clever embellishments:

Pat has made her optional layout for Scrap Club turning the sketch 90 degrees:

Pat has included lots of metal brads - and heaps of stitching ( her trade mark!)

Jan Benskin turned the sketch on it's side for her original page as it suited her photo's better. Rather then stars Jan used leaves for her embellishments:

Alfie the guinea pig is the star of Dianes page. The colours of the patterned paper (by Crate Paper) go really well with the colours in the photograph of Alfie.

Diane has also made two mens cards with her left overs:

And here is my card using my left overs. I used this months card club design for my inspiration:

Here is a close up. I used glossy accents to make the golf ball and stars shine, plus sneaked in some twine for the tag:

Looking forward to seeing all the optional layouts created at our March Scrap Club sessions. I will have my camera handy! Thank you all for sharing your fab creations.
February Scrap Club Inspiration!
This month Jenny, Rachel and myself each made a layout using our February sketch so we had three sample pages to share!
The first is mine. I used two pieces of single sided patterned paper from Basic Grey, and cut shapes from one of them to use as my embellishments.
The title was cut on the cricut, and then textured in an embossing folder using the Cuttlebug. Finally I inked the letters with distress ink to highlight the texture further.

Here is a close up of my faux metal backing for a grungeboard monogram letter, the technique for the month. I also used some twine on the letter and my tag - an additional extra challenge that I added in at the last minute!

Jenny used her patterned paper to its maximum, and cut out the printed stars to use as embellishments. Some have been covered in glossy Accents for shine and dimension.

Rachel has made this stunning layout about her brother Christopher. She has only used one piece of double sided 7Gypsies paper for the patterned blocks. And I love the faux metal music note. (I don't know it's proper name!)

...and here are some of the marvelous creations made at Scrap Club this month:
Hayley made this colourful layout. I love the additional metal brads, and the way she has turned back a corner on her photo mat to show of the pattern on the other side:

Next we have Lorraines layout - complete with a great heart shaped journaling tag!

Marianne Allit completed the layout, including her jouranling at her Scrap Club session. These Basic Grey Oliver papers are perfect for the colours in her photograph. I also love the way she has rounded the corners on her patterned paper blocks:

The colours Natali has chosen really compliment the colours in the photograph, and I love the way she has used the horizontal strips on the sketch as journaling strips.

This is one half of a double layout (Mini Monsters!) that Kirsty has made. Love the way the twine is tied around all her title letters:

This page is lovely, and who says flowers are just for girls! Tessa has let the patterns and colours create a masculine page:

Pat (PurplePat!) couldn't resist adding some stitching and doodling to her masterpiece, giving the finished page lots of extra detail and texture. (Sorry about the camera glare)

The faux metal swirl on this layout is lovely, and well done to Marion for completing her journaling! My apologies for the flash on the photo.

Here is Deborah's layout. I like the extra little metal stars:

Marvelous Monday Evening Memories!
Here are some final photographs from January's Scrap Club layouts - enjoy!
The first two have been created by Vicki. I love the way Vickie has divided the circle into two parts with different papers. The flowers in the top right hand corner pull up to reveal her journaling:

This is Vicki's second challenge layout. I just love the stitched border:

Tina only started scrapbooking just before Christmas. Tina cut the cute little blue birds on her Cricut and coloured them to match the birds on her Basic Grey patterned paper:

....and here is a close-up of her stamped (Hero Arts Clear Stamps) flowers and one of several stamped sentiments.

Next we have a beautiful layout by Sue using Cosmo Cricket Delovely papers:

...and here is the pretty card Sue made with left overs:

Here is Lorraines striking layout that celebrates her first climb to a summit in the Lake District - wow!

and here is her fun second challenge layout with stitching and stamped heart embellishments:

Here is a very glamerous Kirsti with her pretty layout. Kirsti added Glossy Accents on top of the flowers on her patterned paper to make them shine:

This is Jooles second challenge page. She has actually hand stitched the border of tiny blue snowflakes on the top of her page!

Thanks to everyone for sharing their lovely creations from January's Scrap Club. More inspiration to share from February's Scrap Club soon!
Lovely Layouts to Share from January's Scrap Club
A stunning layout by Heather with beautiful stamped flowers and lovely little touches like added pearls, and the fibres on her journaling tag:

Another beautiful layout by Kim using papers from the same collection, and more lovely stamped flowers plus some lovely stitching:

This is Christine's second layout for the optional challenge. The green photo mat is also a pocket to hold old school reports! I love the sweet vintage feel of this layout.

Emma's romantic layout has beautiful stitching and I love the way she has added little punched hearts to mimic the confetti in the photograph!

Lots of nice little touches on Karen's layout like the way she has stitched around the outside of her stamped flowers to give them an extra layer - clever!

The colours of the card and patterned papers really complimant Liz's page, and I love how she has used all the left over stamped flowers to make a stunning little card:

Marion's punched edges, and stitched star made me smile!

The beautiful stitching and stunning flowers gives Sandra's layout the wow factor!

Sandra also used the sketch and techniques to make this lovely card:

A stunning colour combination from Tracy makes this layout really stand out!

Trudy pulled out an old A Maze of Memories page kit, and managed to use all the elements for her page. Love the way she has used the green tulle above the photo mat - clever!

Another Challenge completed!
It has been great seeing so many layouts over the last four weeks that have been inspired by our January Scrap Club.
Here is Carolyn's second challenge layout:

All the elements have been included - stitching and the cat embellishments have been stamped:

Carolyn has also stamped her sub title:

A little bit more inspiration from Scrap Club!
Thank you so much to our local scrapbookers who have allowed me to share their layouts - which often tell very personal stories. I really appreciate it.
Sue has used the sketch again to make her second layout, and added journaling, stamping and stitching:

I love the stamped 'plane, and the stitched vapour trail - what an inspired idea!

Carol Hiett created this lovely layout at Scrap Club:

..and here is her personal journaling Carol was willing to share....

Not much left over, but Carol still managed to complete the card challenge!

This is Carols second layout...and what a stunning page:

Here is a close-up of her stitching and stamped flowers. The flowers pull up to reveal a hidden tag with her journaling.

Sandi Brain created this beautiful layout at Scrap Club....and this time she rembered to bring a photograph so has actually managed to finish the layout!

The stitching is beautiful and matches the feel of the layout perfectly.

Here is Phil Elwell's layout from Scrap Club. Phil has chosen a perfect patterned paper for her background.

Here is a close-up of the stamped embellishment, her stitching, and clever use of a decorative edged punch to add lots of interest to her photo mat:

...and some meaningful journaling that pulls out from behind the photo on a matching tag.

Sallie Henson has made her second layout and managed to incorporate all the elements for the Scrap Club challenge:

The lovely embellishment is one of my favourite Hero Arts cling stamps - and I love the way Sallie has coloured it an unusual blue to match her layout.

And for a final burst of inspiration - look at this fanastic layout made by Carolyn at Scrap Club:

...and lots of little details to enjoy with the subtle stitching, inked edges and string on her journaling tag...

...and finally Carolyn used her left over scraps to make this brilliant card - and even used the sketch, plus stitching and stamping as her inspiration:

Some more Inspiration:
Here are some great layouts from Scrap Club. Everyone started with the same sketch, and have included the same techniques.
First we have a stunning layout by Lesley Cook. A great photo - and taken at A Maze of Memories!

...and here is a close up of her stitching and stamping. What a great blanket stitch!

Next we have Linda Clares' lovely layout:

...and here is a close up of Linda's journaling:

Next we have a sweet layout by Kathleen Harris celebrating the birth of her twin grand daughters (there is only one baby on this page!):

Kathleen did some beautiful stitching:

Here is the beautiful layout Diane completed at Scrap Club:

.....and a close up of her clever title that combines stitching and stamping!

...and Challenge 2 completed - some lovely cards made with her left overs!

Linda Brewis has chosen the perfect papers and colours to go with this photo. This was taken in a helicopter above the Great Barrier Reef, and her hidden journaling explains why this was the "Spin of a Lifetime".

I love the way that she has chosen the shape of her stamped flowers to echo the wirring blades of the helicopter - clever!

....and finally some brilliant feedback about Scrap Club to share from Teresa:
"Guess what. Since the Scrap Club I have done 3 layouts! Thats more in a week than I have done in the last 3 months!"
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
January 2011 60 scrapbookers attended our very first Scrap Club sessions this month - Thank you!
Jennifer and Linda created their first ever layouts so especially well done to them.
Everyone had a sketch to work from, and we focused on the importance of journaling. Techniques to use this month (to either try for the first time or re-visit) were stitching plus stamping on paper and card to create matching embellishments. Everyone chose thier own kit and were encouraged to be as creative as they wished so that all the finished layouts would be unique and original.
Jenny and I created layouts using the sketch and techniques as samples, to show two different ways the sketch could be interpreted.
Here is my layout "Just Me"

Here is a close up of the jouranaling that is hidden on a tag:

And here is a close up of stamped flowers and some stitching. I used a set of clear stamps by Hero Arts CL374 Big and Small Flowers: :

Here is Jenny's layout "Scrapbooking - Why"

Jenny has used plain cardstock for her background and stitched some fantastic circles using the Bazzil Institchz Circle template.
Here is a close up of her journaling of why Jenny scrapbooks:

Here are her beautiful stamped flowers. Jenny has used the cling set by Hero Arts CG148 Blossoms:

Here is a layout completed from Scrap Club made by Jan Benskin which shows the versatility of using a sketch:

Jan used snowflake stamps rather than flowers for her layout, and did some great hidden journaling!

And now for not ONE but TWO challenges. Challenges are optional but if you do decide to play then remember to bring them back to Scrap Club to share and earn bonus stamps on your Scrap Club Challenge card!!
CHALLENGE 1
Pull out some patterned papers and co-ordinating card from your stash that you already have. Use this months sketch again to create a completely different layout. Remember that a sketch can be flipped or rotated to create a completely new design. Include journaling, and some stitching, plus a stamped embellishment!
CHALLENGE 2
Use up some of your left over paper and card from this months Scrap Club layout and make a card!
Here is mine. I had more stamped flowers than I needed for my page so I combined them with some left over patterned paper, and card. I managed to use a bit of left over punched edge trim as well that nearly ended up in the bin!

...and here is a card made by Jan Benskin. It cleverly combines the sketch and some left overs from her layout! Jan has even stitched around the circle on her card:

I am looking forward to seeing what everyone brings back next month.
